Many years ago, Marine veterans Kevin Sadaj and Scott MacQuarrie, would often correspond about their service in Somalia. They realized that while veterans of other wars had their own organizations, Somalia vets did not. They sought to create a community specifically for Marine Somalia veterans that would allow just Marine Somalia veterans to communicate in a safe environment in language that was comfortable just for Marine vets. In 2009 they founded what we now know as Marine Somalia Veterans Association.
